QUERI National Meeting 2008: Connecting Research and Patient Care

VA's Health Services Research and Development Service (HSR&D) will hold their Quality Enhancement Research Initiative (QUERI) National Meeting on December 10-12 at the Hyatt Regency in Phoenix, AZ. The theme for this year's invitation-only meeting is "Connecting Research and Patient Care." QUERI investigators, HSR&D researchers, and other VA staff involved in implementation science will be invited to participate. The goal of the meeting is to provide a forum to share information and focus on issues vital to implementing evidence-based research into clinical practice, thereby improving patient care and outcomes.

The QUERI National Meeting will include plenary presentations, poster sessions, and workshops that focus on the vital connection between research and operations in facilitating and systematizing the implementation of evidence-based interventions that advance quality of care. The meeting also allows QUERI groups, which each focus on a different disease/condition prevalent among veterans, to share valuable lessons learned that will save time and costs in future implementation efforts.

This year QUERI marks its tenth year as a crucial part of VA's quality improvement efforts. The national meeting will celebrate various QUERI achievements in improving the quality of health care for veterans and will take advantage of bringing together various QUERI stakeholders to discuss the future direction of this unique and dynamic quality improvement program.
