A main objective of the Research Methodology portfolio is to ensure advances in tools, methods and measures to support future health services research efforts and evidence based health care practices.
Recent Research Methodology projects evaluate measurement and screening techniques in a variety of content areas including: aging, cancer, mental illness, diabetes, military exposure, telemedicine and chronic disease management. Projects in this portfolio focus on methods for analyzing or evaluating costs related to Veteran's healthcare, guidelines for care and organizational issues. Methods recently used in the studies include biostatistical, econometric, psychometric, quantitative, qualitative, and mixed quantitative and qualitative.
Project proposals are submitted in response to HSR&D solicitations. Proposals are peer reviewed by an expert panel of reviewers, and if approved, are considered for funding.
