Quality Measurement
Quality Measurement is a portfolio area within Health Services Research and Development (HSR&D) that addresses the degree to which health care services provided to veterans increase the likelihood of desired health outcomes and are consistent with current professional knowledge. The main objective of the Quality Measurement portfolio is to ensure that care provided to veterans within the VA health care system is effective, safe, patient-centered, timely, equitable, and efficient.
The portfolio encompasses a wide range of issues. Current active projects address: quality of life issues in relation to specific disease processes or care, establishment/ evaluation of best practices, health care utilization and outcomes of care; measurement /evaluation of quality of care, clinical behavior and variations in care, provider-patient interactions, and care delivery systems.
Project proposals are solicited through announcements to all VA. Proposals are peer-reviewed by an expert panel of reviewers and, if approved, are considered for funding.
