HSR&D's Veena Shankaran Honored as ASCO Foundation's Young Investigator of the Year
Veena Shankaran, MD, part of HSR&D's Center for the Management of Complex Chronic Care in Hines, IL, has earned the Young Investigator Award (YIA) for 2009 from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Cancer Foundation. The YIA is a significant award of $50,000, and is being presented for her research titled, "The Out-of-Pocket Costs and Burden for Medicare-Eligible Cancer Patients and their Caregivers." Dr. Shankaran will receive the award during the ASCO Foundation Annual Meeting on May 31, 2009.
