Description: The use of GIS data and analysis is rapidly expanding in the healthcare industry as planners, providers, policy makers, and researchers find innovative ways to leverage the insights provided by location data. For years, VA has relied on geospatial data and tools to inform decision makers and improve access to care. This presentation will provide: a brief overview of GIS, examples and explanation of how VA and the Office of Policy and Services use GIS, a glimpse into the future of GIS in VA, and information on the GIS data and resources available within VA. Intended Audience: Professionals who have limited knowledge of GIS and the benefits GIS brings to the healthcare community.
