David Bentrem MD, MS is a surgical oncologist and a health services researcher. His research focuses on utilization and translational aspects of treatment for gastrointestinal cancers. Dr. Bentrem completed undergraduate and medical school at the University of Virginia in 1996. Dr Bentrem completed his surgical residency at Northwestern University in 2003 and his surgical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2005. Following fellowship he bacame an assistant professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology. In March 2009, he was awarded a VA Career Development Award in Health Services Reseach and Development. This award will allow him to explore quality measures in the care of veterans undergoing cancer surgery.
