As an implementation scientist for the past 15 years for the VA Stroke QUERI Center and now as the Implementation Core Director and Co-PI for the VA Precision Monitoring (PRIS-M) QUERI Center, Dr. Damush has conducted formative evaluations of clinical care processes and patient-centered programs which include risk factor modification and prevention activities by engaging stakeholders and conducting observations in the field. She also has experience utilizing the formative data to design and evaluate implementation interventions and strategies for the implementation of evidence-based programs in both primary and specialty care practices. She has worked with interdisciplinary clinical teams involved in the continuum of care from acute, inpatient/outpatient, and rehabilitation care to implement and evaluate evidence-based practices, implementation strategies, and implementation processes and outcomes. As a mixed-methodologist, she has experience designing and conducting formative evaluations with key stakeholders and triangulating formative data with theoretically designed implementation interventions. She has previously partnered with the VA Office of Specialty Care-Neurology Service to evaluate the field's response to a mandated Acute Ischemic Stroke Directive. Within the VA Precision Monitoring to Transform Care QUERI Center, she has coordinated the implementation evaluation plans across 5 quality improvement projects using both semi-structured data from front line clinical providers, and team group processes during a learning collaborative to foster improvements in the quality of care.
