ZIAD GELLAD, MD MPH AGAF is a gastroenterologist at the Durham VA Medical Center and a Core Investigator in the Durham VA Center for Health Services Research in Primary Care. He is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at Duke University Medical Center and a faculty member of the Duke Clinical Research Institute. Dr. Gellad's research is focused on quality, efficiency, and value in health care delivery with a particular interest in colorectal cancer screening. His HSR&D Career Development Award, "Simulation-Guided Systems Redesign in GI Endoscopy," will focus on the implementation of systems engineering methods, including discrete event simulation modeling, into the VA Systems Redesign framework with a goal of improving access to colorectal cancer screening for Veterans. Dr. Gellad received his MD and MPH degrees from Johns Hopkins University and completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology at Duke University Medical Center.
