I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine and Public Health, a Core Investigator at the Minneapolis VA Center for Care Delivery and Outcomes Research (CCDOR), and a practicing pulmonary and critical care physician at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System. My long-term goal is to improve health outcomes for individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by optimizing management, reducing health disparities, and enhancing access to evidence-based care. My research has focused on geographic disparities in health care delivery among rural Veterans with COPD. After completing foundational training in health services research through the University of Minnesota Clinical and Translational Science Institute KL2 Career Development Program, I am now supported by a VA HSR Career Development Award (CDA-2), through which I will continue to investigate strategies to optimize delivery of evidence-based care for Veterans with COPD living in rural areas, with additional training in qualitative and mixed methods and implementation science.
