Julie Weitlauf, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist within the VISN 21 MIRECC of the VA Palo Alto Health Care System where she serves as Director of the Women’s Mental Health and Aging Core and the WISH (Women’s Interpersonal Violence, Sexual Assault and Health) Laboratory. She is also Clinical Professor (Affl) of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine, and an alumnus of the VA HSR & D Career Development Award Program. Dr. Weitlauf’s program of research has focused broadly on the intersection of women’s interpersonal violence exposure and long term physical and mental health consequences. She has particular expertise in women’s reproductive mental health, with emphasis on how interpersonal violence exposure may impact utilization of reproductive health services and provides clinical education and training to women’s health and OB-GYN providers who provide care to victims of interpersonal violence and abuse.
