Dr. Ibrahim is currently the Co-Director, CHERP, HSR&D Center of Innovation, also an Attending Physician, PVAMC, and a Professor of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. His work involves quantitative and qualitative research on the impact of race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and culture on health care access, utilization, and outcomes. His examination of access to and utilization of joint replacement in the management of knee/hip osteoarthritis (OA) advanced health disparities research from first-generation studies detecting disparities in care, to second-generation studies exploring reasons for these disparities, to the first-ever third-generation intervention trial to reduce a well-documented disparity.
