Dr. David Edelman is a staff physician at the DVAMC, a research associate at the Durham Center of Innovation in Primary Care, and Associate Professor of Medicine at Duke University Medical Center. His research focuses on novel systems and behavioral interventions to improve management of, or prevent, chronic illnesses, in particular group medical interventions. His recent studies have mostly been randomized, controlled trials of health services interventions for patients with chronic illness, and his current VA-funded is a randomized, controlled trial studying a group intervention for primary prevention of cardiovascular disease in patients with high cardiovascular risk. He is a former VA HSR&D Career Development Awardee, and has been the primary mentor for several junior investigators at the Durham COIN, and has been primary mentor for two VA HSR&D Career Development Awardees.
