Dr. Linda Ganzini has been on staff at the Portland VAMC for over 25 years. She is currently the Associate Director of a HSR&D Center of Innovation. The Center is named Center to Improve Veteran Involvement in Care (CIVIC) and its focus, veteran centric care. Dr. Ganzini has had Merit Review funding for 24 years, gradually moving from Clinical Sciences to HSR&D. Her research interests have been primarily focused in the areas of suicide, ethics and care for Veterans with comorbid medical and psychiatric disorders. She has published over 120 peer review articles in the medical literature of which an increasing proportion are qualitative or mixed methods research. Dr. Ganzini is a Professor in both the Department of Medicine and Department of Psychiatry at the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), as well as a Staff Psychiatrist and Director of Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship Program at Portland VAMC and the Director of the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry at OHSU. Between 2006 and 2013, she was the Director of the VA HSR&D Research Enhancement Award Program—Portland Center for the Study of Chronic, Comorbid Mental and Physical Disorders.
