Dr. Evelyn Hutt founded and led the health services research effort at the Eastern Colorado Health Care System from 2002-2013. As a geriatrician-internist and palliative care physician, she has a long-standing interest in the care of underserved populations, and is currently funded by VA HSR&D to study Planning Palliative Care for Homeless Veterans at the End of Life. She has completed projects aimed to improve the care of pneumonia and heart failure in nursing home patients, and mentored many of the current COIN faculty through their Career Development Awards. Last year she extended her mentoring to faculty at the Institute of Palliative Care in Africa while on sabbatical in Uganda.
