Dr. Robert D. Kerns is Special Advisor for Pain Research for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Director of the Pain Research, Informatics, Multi-morbidities, and Education (PRIME) Center at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, and Professor of Psychiatry, Neurology, and Psychology at Yale University. He has published over 250 articles and two books in the area of behavioral medicine and pain management, including research in the area of psychological and complementary approaches to pain management. He is the recipient of numerous honors and awards, and he was a member of the Institute of Medicine Committee on Advancing Pain Research, Care, and Education and is a current member of the Health and Human Services National Pain Strategy Oversight Panel that will establish an action plan to transform pain care in America.
