Research Interests: Equity, PTSD, Research Methods, Survey Methods, Disability Benefits
Dr. Maureen Murdoch’s research encompasses three interrelated areas: the role of disability benefits in recovery from PTSD, risk factors for and outcomes associated with military sexual stressor experiences, and survey methods. The latter is needed to support research in the two other areas. All three areas are terribly understudied, and she certainly would welcome interested mentees! Particularly for her own funded projects, Dr. Murdoch typically creates large, rich datasets that incorporate survey and participant-level clinical information with administrative data across several sources, including Medicare, VBA, and VHA data. She also systematically study and develop methods to improve the quality of data collected via survey methods, whether via interview or self-administration, especially in terms of reducing non-ignorable non-response bias.
