Dr. Spoont is an investigator with the Center for Chronic Disease Outcomes Research (CCDOR), a VA HSR&D Center of Innovation at the Minneapolis VA Healthcare System, and with the National Center for PTSD. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School and an Adjunct Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology. Her research focuses on: 1) understanding and addressing disparities in PTSD treatment and outcome, 2) integration of mental health care for PTSD in primary care, and 3) improving the patient-centeredness of the delivery of mental health care for Veterans with PTSD.
