Dr. Sandeep Vijan is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan and a Research Scientist and Physician at the Ann Arbor VA Health System. Dr. Vijan’s research interests primarily center around identifying and implementing value-based interventions as a basis for health-system reform. His primary goal is to develop models to examine the costs, risks, and comparative effectiveness of applying approaches to personalized medicine for a variety of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease prevention, diabetes management, colorectal cancer screening, and mental health disorders. He also has research interest in applying these comparative effectiveness models to improve shared decision-making processes, applying them to develop more nuanced measures of quality of care, and in examining how they may improve the efficiency and value of health care delivery.
