Description: Acute Upper Respiratory Tract infections (ARIs) account for the largest component of unnecessary antibiotic treatment in the outpatient setting. Variance in provider practice explains a significant component of inappropriate use, and provider-directed interventions are promising strategies for improving performance. This presentation will describe and outline preliminary findings of a VA-wide provider-directed intervention designed to improve the antibiotic management of ARIs. Intended audience: Researchers and policy experts interested in improving antibiotic use.
