Description: A critical knowledge gap remains about the extent and type of long-term sequela of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI; a.k.a. concussion). In the meantime, large numbers of difficult-to-treat patients including Combat Veterans continue to present clinically with chronic post-concussion type symptoms and problems, often confounded by comorbidities such as PTSD. This presentation provides an overview of the LIMBIC-CENC Multicenter Prospective Longitudinal Study’s approach to addressing this knowledge gap and presents some of its recent research findings comparing participants with prior mTBI(s) to controls without TBI. It will also highlight clinical interpretation of these findings and present an integrated clinical approach to optimizing brain health in patients with mTBI histories and/or Persistent Post-Concussion Symptoms (PPCS). Intended Audience: Scientists researchers and clinicians interested in mTBI outcomes research, brain health, and/or clinical care of Veterans or patients with positive mTBI histories.
