Congratulations to Lillian Gelberg, MD, MSPH, winner of the North American Primary Care Research Group’s (NAPCRG) 2023 Maurice Wood Award for Lifetime Contribution to Primary Care Research!

Dr. Gelberg is an investigator with HSR&D’s Center for the Study of Healthcare Innovation, Implementation and Policy and VA’s Office of Healthcare Transformation and Innovation in Los Angeles. Her research focuses on improving the health and healthcare of homeless populations and on community-based integration of prevention in primary care to encourage healthful lifestyles and prevent substance use disorders, obesity, cancer, and other chronic diseases, particularly in vulnerable populations. She has published more than 230 peer-reviewed papers and 16 book chapters, has mentored more than 100 young investigators, and has received numerous awards.

NAPCRG’s Maurice Wood Award for Lifetime Contribution to Primary Care Research is given annually to honor a researcher who has made outstanding contributions to primary care research over the course of a lifetime. Scientists from around the world are eligible.
