Lisa V. Rubenstein, MD, MSPH is the recipient of the John M. Eisenberg National Award for Career Achievement in Research, which will be awarded at the National Meeting of the Society for General Internal Medicine (SGIM) in May. This award recognizes a senior member whose innovative research has changed the way we care for patients, how we conduct research and how we educate students. Dr. Rubenstein is the Director of the VISN 22 PACT Demonstration Laboratory, the Care Coordination QUERI Program, and the VA Quality Scholars Program. A former recipient of the Under Secretary for Health Award for Outstanding Achievement in Health Services Research (2001), she is an internationally recognized health services researcher and implementation scientist focused on moving transformational primary care-based delivery models into routine practice. She was the founding director HSR&D's Center for the Study of Healthcare Provider Behavior at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System for nearly 20 years before taking on leadership of the VA QUERI Center for Implementation Practice & Research Support, where she launched training of a new generation of implementation scientists and facilitated advances in program evaluation and quality improvement research. She also led seminal work in the measurement of depression care quality and a series of depression collaborative care model studies that led to the spread and policy adoption of VA primary care-mental health integration system-wide.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Rubenstein on this recognition of her extraordinary contributions to the field!
