Description: Of 313 eligible systematic reviews examining the conditions of interest, less than 10% reported sex or gender differences in treatment effectiveness or risk for adverse effects. These differences were most often addressed for medications treating depression or diabetes. Review of a subset of primary randomized trial data showed that few had sample sizes large enough to examine moderator effects, and only 14% reported analysis of interactions between sex and intervention vs. control group.
