Description: In recent years within the UK there has been a strong drive to promote involvement of patients and members of the public in health research that moves beyond their involvement as research subjects to include active engagement in all aspects of the research process. This seminar will explore the opportunities, benefits and challenges of engaging patients and the public in implementation research and quality improvement initiatives. The principles underpinning patient and public involvement will be illustrated by drawing upon examples from the UK of research and quality improvement initiatives that have used this approach.
