Keith McInnes, ScD, MS
Seminar date: 12/7/2010
Description: In this session, Dr. McInnes will describe the use of an Intervention to provide Internet and My HealtheVet skills to veterans with serious chronic conditions. The goal is to increase patient activation and improve patient self-management, with special emphasis on veterans of lower socioeconomic status, without advanced computer skills, and in rural areas. Methods and preliminary results will be described. There will also be a discussion of how this type of intervention could be more widely disseminated throughout the VA, in its current form or in a less resource-intensive form (e.g. distance learning, distribution of CD-rom, etc.) Finally, he will discuss how My HealtheVet can be used to improve specific aspects of disease self-management (e.g. medication adherence).
