The Effect of Staffing Levels on VA Reliance and Consult Wait Times

Description: There is a complex interrelationship between provider staffing levels, appointment wait times, and whether Veterans rely on VA for their care. In this presentation, we discuss our research into the effects of increased provider/enrollee ratios on wait times & reliance for several high-volume specialties. Our results may have important implications for workforce management, allowing planners to identify the staffing levels required to achieve desired average wait times. Intended Audience: Workforce planners, budget offices, policy analysts
