Impact of Repeated Exposure to Low-level Blast on Health and Performance in Military Personnel: A Holistic Approach

by Oshin Vartanian, PhD
Seminar date: 6/9/2021

Description: In collaboration with the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), researchers at Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) have examined the impact of blast exposure on Canadian breachers and snipers over the last decade. The findings across various units and contexts are beginning to reveal the nuanced ways in which repeated exposure to low-level blast can impact operators' health and performance. We will argue for the utility of implementing a longitudinal health monitoring program that examines signals from multiple psychological and physiological sources for tracking and assessing the risk of injury in this population.
Intended audience: This webinar will be of interest to military personnel, veterans, clinicians and researchers interested in blast effects on health and performance.
