Veterans' interactions with VHA care prior to suicide: Implications for VHA providers

Description: This session will present information on the VHA care received and correlates of suicide among Veteran suicide decedents in nationally-representative samples. Dr. Dobscha will present findings from a case-control study of Veterans receiving VHA primary care in the six months prior to death. Dr. Denneson will discuss qualitative content analyses of VHA medical records of women Veterans and OEF/OIF Veterans who died by suicide. The intended audience includes clinicians, suicide prevention coordinators, researchers and other VA staff.
