HSR&D Researchers and Evaluators in Residence (REiR) Program

Opportunities for National Program Offices/VISNs

The Researchers and Evaluators in Residence (REiR) program is an opportunity for VA program or VISN offices to leverage HSR&D researchers, who are already embedded in the VA system, to better inform VA programs and policies and improve care for Veterans. The program provides an opportunity for operational or VISN offices to benefit from HSR&D investigators’ expertise in research methods and analysis, while HSR&D investigators gain experience working on important policy and operations questions using relevant data sources. Interested program office “hosts” should identify the policy or clinical issue for which they are seeking help and the type of expertise and experience needed. Examples of potential projects include analyzing the impact of a policy change; developing evidence-based policy responses to an emerging clinical problem; or exploring factors associated with variation in clinical performance.

Interested VA Program or VISN offices should submit their proposal via this web form.

Please contact CEIR@va.gov with any questions.
