Telemedicine for adults

Ong MK, Pfeffer J, Mullur R. Telemedicine for adults. UpToDate [Internet]. 2020 Oct 12. Available from: https://www.uptodate.com/contents/telemedicine-for-adults/print.

Abstract:

Starting in the mid-20th century, telemedicine programs began to emerge as a novel option to provide remote clinical examination and mental health support [1,2]. Since that time, the use of telemedicine, particularly video visits, has expanded to include telehealth and mobile health applications [3]. During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the use of telemedicine has dramatically increased, and it is anticipated that telemedicine will remain a frequently utilized modality for patient encounters in the future [4].
