Justine Seidenfeld, MD, MHS, is a Core Investigator with the Durham VA Center of Innovation to Accelerate Discovery and Practice Transformation and a practicing emergency physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Durham VA Medical Center. She received her MD from Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, and completed a residency in emergency medicine at Cook County Health in 2020. She completed a health services research fellowship with the National Clinician Scholar Program at the Durham VA and Duke University in 2022. Dr. Seidenfeld's research interests include geriatric populations in the emergency department, transitions of care, and patterns of healthcare utilization for both emergent and avoidable care. The objective of her CDA award is to develop and pilot test a shared decision making tool to help Veterans with dementia, their care partners, and ED providers discuss disposition options during an ED visit.
