Dr. Taylor is Executive Director of VA's Complementary and Integrative Health Evaluation Center and a Professor in the Departments of Health Policy and Management and Medicine at UCLA. Her research over the past decade has focused on examining the implementation of evidence-based non-pharmacologic approaches such as acupuncture, meditation, and yoga to prevent or manage pain, anxiety, and depression, and foster "whole health." She also examines the effectiveness of more novel therapies, such as Battlefield Acupuncture and psychedelic-assisted therapy. For her work in complementary and integrative health therapies, she was awarded VA's Health System Impact Award in 2019. She has over 30 years' research experience at VA, UCLA, RAND, and Columbia University, has authored over 150 peer-reviewed papers and reports, and received over $18 million in research funding from a variety of governmental and foundation sources. She serves on several VA and non-VA national review panels and strategic taskforces, including those at the NIH/National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, the Department of Defense, and the nation's largest publicly-operated health plan, LA Care Health Plan. She is on the editorial board for the Journal of Integrative and Complementary Medicine.
