VA Rural Health State of the Science 2016

Call for Poster Abstracts

Three VA HSR&D Centers of Innovation are jointly hosting a VA Rural Health State of the Science conference September 12-13, 2016 in the Washington DC area. The conference will bring together rural health investigators and VA clinical and operations offices to advance the ongoing discussion of how to address the healthcare needs of rural Veterans, develop priorities and implementation strategies, and ultimately improve the quality and access to care for rural Veterans. In addition to the Health Equity and Rural Outreach Innovation Center (HEROIC), the Center for Comprehensive Access & Delivery Research and Evaluation (CADRE), and the Center of Innovation on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (CINDRR), a number of partners will participate in the conference, including: the VA Office of Rural Health, the Virtual Specialty Care Telehealth QUERI, the National Rural Evaluation Center, the VA Office of Telehealth, the VA Office on Connected Health and the VA Office of Community Care.

Investigators who are engaged in health services research focused on improving the health and healthcare of rural Veterans are invited to submit abstracts for poster presentation at this conference in one of the subject areas below:

  • Telemedicine and technology
  • Veterans Choice Program and broader initiatives to increase community-based care for rural Veterans; and
  • Engagement of rural Veterans in both their care and the research being conducted.

NOTE: Abstract submission is closed

The Poster Session is scheduled on September 12, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. This session is a display consisting of an exhibit of material personally accompanied by the author for an assigned period of time (2 hours). The display reports on current research results that can be readily summarized in graphic form (e.g., tables, graphs, pictures). Limited travel funds are available and will be provided for only one lead presenter per accepted abstract.

Please use the online form to submit your abstract. There is a suggested combined 350-word limit for the abstract fields. That is, the total length of the abstract (Objectives + Methods + Results + Conclusions + Impact) should not exceed 350 words. Any questions should be directed to:
