Jack Tsai, PhD

Jack Tsai, PhD

Jack Tsai, Ph.D., an HSR&D Career Development awardee with the Pain Research, Informatics, Medical Comorbidities and Education (PRIME) Center and a Clinical Psychologist with the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, has been elected to the American Psychological Association's (APA) Board for the Advancement of Psychology in the Public Interest (BAPPI).

In addition to his work with PRIME, Dr. Tsai also is an investigator for the Veterans Affairs New England Mental Illness, Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC) and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine. His research interests include addressing the needs of homeless populations, improving understanding of posttraumatic stress disorder and recovery, and evaluating psychosocial services for adults with severe mental illness. His Career Development award project focuses on improving services for homeless Veterans through testing a new, alternative group-based model of case management for VA's largest supported housing program.

The BAPPI's role is to assure that psychology serves the public interest and advances social justice, health and wellbeing for all people through interactions with its reporting committees, other APA boards, committees, and divisions and through collaboration with like-minded external professional and interest groups. Board members are comprised of nine APA members and one public member, all of whom serve staggered, three-year terms.
