Session Title Overview of VA Data, Information Systems, National Databases and Research Uses
This program provides an overview of VA data available for research such as the data from Austin Information Technology Center (AITC), VA Pharmacy data, VA/CMS data, and other sources. Policies governing researchers access to VA data are also discussed. Finally, resources for obtaining access to and using the VA data are provided. At the conclusion of the program participants should be able to: 1) Describe sources of data available for VA research including: a. VA Inpatient Data b. VA Outpatient Data c. VA Pharmacy Data d. VA DSS National Laboratory Data e. VA Rehabilitation Data f. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Data Acquired by VA g. VA Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW) h. VA Vital Status Dataset 2) Identify policies that govern researchers access to VA data 3) Identify resources for obtaining access and using the VA data Target audience: VA Research Community and Clinicians
