Using CMS Data to Study COVID-19 in Veterans

Description: This cyberseminar, part of the miniseries focused on data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), will demonstrate how VA researchers can utilize CMS data when studying COVID-19 or COVID-19 vaccines. The presentation will include a brief overview of CMS data, statistics on the number of Veterans with COVID-19 and/or COVID-19 vaccines in the CMS data, and examples of ways the CMS data can be used to study COVID-19.
Objectives:
• To demonstrate the importance of including CMS data in VA research on COVID-19
• To identify types of CMS data that can be used when studying COVID-19
• To discuss strengths and limitations of using CMS data to study COVID-19
• Explain how to access and where to find support for working with CMS data
