Perinatal Depression among Veterans: State of the Research and Future Directions

Description: Abstract: Perinatal depression, diagnosed during pregnancy or within the first year after delivery, affects a substantial number of Veterans and is associated with negative maternal and child outcomes. This Cyberseminar will review the state of the research on perinatal depression among Veterans, including the prevalence, treatment utilization patterns, and experiences of perinatal depression among Veterans. Additionally, Dr. Kroll-Desrosiers and discussants from the Office of Women's Health will discuss recent updates to VA policies to expand the Maternity Care Coordination program through the first year postpartum and the potential impacts on postpartum mental health among Veterans.
