Dr. Amanda C. Blok is an implementation scientist and investigator with the VA Center for Clinical Management Research in Ann Arbor, MI. She is affiliated with the Department of Systems, Populations, and Leadership at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. She received her PhD from the University of Massachusetts Boston, completed an NCI-funded implementation research post-doctoral fellowship at UMass Medical, and subsequently an advanced fellowship in health services research in the VA Center for Healthcare Organization and Implementation Research in Bedford, MA.
Dr. Blok's program of research is focused on user-centered intervention and implementation program design for patient and family-facing innovations. As a nurse and implementation scientist, she has extensive experience in both clinical practice and health behavior change research. Her use of nurse-driven implementation programs to facilitate patient and family engagement with health-promoting technology is novel. Dr. Blok is currently funded on a 5-year, HSR&D Career Development Award titled "Family-centered co-design of a technology-facilitated intervention for family caregivers of critical care survivors." While working to reduce psychological distress and promote the wellbeing of patients, families, and clinical staff within and outside of the clinical environment, Amanda enjoys making a difference at VA.
