Justin M. Bachmann, MD, MPH is a Staff Physician at the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System-Nashville campus and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A specialist in cardiac rehabilitation, Dr. Bachmann's research focuses on increasing the utilization and effectiveness of this important therapy among Veterans. Dr. Bachmann's Health Services Research & Development Career Development Award project will create a tailored, motivational intervention to encourage Veterans with ischemic heart disease to enroll in cardiac rehabilitation programs after discharge. Dr. Bachmann has over 20 peer-reviewed publications and received the 2019 American College of Cardiology Career Development Award. He conducted formative research that characterized cardiac rehabilitation utilization among Medicare beneficiaries receiving heart transplants, ventricular assist devices, and cardiac valve surgery.
