Sanket Dhruva, MD, MHS, FACC, is a Staff Physician at the San Francisco VA Health Care System, Assistant Professor of Medicine at UCSF School of Medicine, and Affiliate Faculty at the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies. Dr. Dhruva completed his undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley and then his MD and internal medicine residency at UCSF. He completed cardiology fellowship at UC Davis, followed by an MHS at Yale University School of Medicine in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation/National Clinician Scholars Program. Dr. Dhruva's research focuses on understanding and strengthening the evidence base for the safe and effective use of medical devices, with the goal of improving the quality of care and clinical outcomes for patients, specifically focused on Veterans with pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs). Dr. Dhruva's Health Services Research & Development Career Development Award focuses on better understanding the safety of cardiovascular implantable electronic device leads, with the goal of developing interventions that improve patient safety.
