Dr. Nipa Kamdar is a research science specialist and family nurse practitioner. She is focused on reducing exposure to adverse social determinants in an effort to improve individual health and wellness using community-based participatory research methods. Her motivation to pursue this research originates from her experiences as a family nurse practitioner delivering care in low-income, under-served communities for more than a decade.

She earned her Bachelor's in Nursing from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2000, her Master's in Nursing from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2003, and her Doctorate in Philosophy from University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston in 2015 as a Robert Wood Johnson Future of Nursing Scholar. In 2021, Dr. Kamdar completed her VA Health Services Research and Development Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the Center for Innovation in Quality, Effectiveness, and Safety (IQuESt) at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston. She will continue her research and training at IQuESt as a VA HSR&D career development awardee.
