Dr. Kritee Gujral is a health economist at VA Palo Alto and Instructor (Affiliated) at Stanford University School of Medicine. She received a PhD in Economics from the University of Florida and completed a post-doctorate in Health Economics at the University of Washington. Dr. Gujral has prior experience working as an international tax analyst/consultant at Ernst & Young, Economics Instructor at the University of Florida, and as a research analyst in policy and internationally-focused non-profits.

Dr. Gujral has expertise in evaluating programs and policies using advanced statistical modeling and causal inference methods. Her research interests broadly span health economics, health technology, online markets, and applied econometrics, with specialized interests in mental health and suicide prevention, telehealth, and health disparities. In recognition of the policy impact of her work, Dr. Gujral won the VA National Best Research Paper Award in 2022. She also received the VA Pacific Region Early Career Award in 2023, and VA National HSR Career Development Award in 2024.

Dr. Gujral's National HSR Career Development Award, "VA's Virtual Care Initiatives and Suicide Prevention," will use novel causal inference and machine learning methods to evaluate the suicide prevention impacts of VA's three recent telehealth initiatives aimed at improving access to care.
