Dr. Abbate is an emergency physician and investigator at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center, Eastern Colorado Geriatrics Research Education and Clinical Center (GRECC), and the Seattle-Denver Center of Innovation (COIN) for Veteran-Centered and Value-Driven Care. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Abbate's research and clinical interests include geriatric emergency care related to physical function and exercise program development for health systems. Dr. Abbate's CDA focuses on telehealth group exercise programming supported by text messaging to increase exercise participation and maintenance for Veterans, specifically among those with lower extremity osteoarthritis.
Dr. Abbate received her medical degree at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and completed residency at the Denver Health Residency in Emergency Medicine. She received her doctoral degree in Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health and completed post-doctoral fellowships in Geriatrics at the University of Colorado and VA Eastern Colorado Geriatrics Research Education and Clinical Center.
