Panagiotis (Panos) Roussos, MD, PhD
Seminar date: 6/5/2024
Description: The primary objective of Dr. Roussos’ research endeavor is to augment comprehension of the genetic factors underpinning suicide and to pinpoint biological targets, thereby facilitating the development of strategies to counteract the perturbations associated with genetically influenced diseases. During the presentation, Dr. Roussos will elucidate the association between suicidal behavior and alterations in gene expression specific to certain types of human brain cells, which are instigated by genetic predispositions. This identification of genes and molecular pathways will serve as a foundation for prioritizing targets and screening potential pharmacological interventions. • Intended Audience: The intended audience is interested VHA researchers and research staff
