Description: The purpose of this presentation is share findings from a systematic review of the evidence on 1) benefits and harms of adaptive sports participation and 2) barriers to and facilitators of participation, conducted by the Minneapolis VA Evidence Synthesis Program site. The systematic review topic was nominated by the National Veteran Sports Programs and Special Events (NVSP&SE) office. The review was intended to guide NVSP&SE in developing, making available, and evaluating regional and national adaptive sports programs for Veterans that go beyond general recommendations to participate in sports. Intended audience: adaptive sports providers such as Physicians, Nurses, Physical & Occupational Therapists, Blind Rehabilitation Specialists, Creative Arts & Recreation Therapists, Kinesiotherapists, Prosthetists, Orthotists, and Mental Health Providers.
