by Lisa Brenner, PhD, ABPP ; Gregory Brown, PhD ; Barbara Stanley, PhD
Seminar date: 12/14/2015

Description: This presentation will discuss the evidence supporting use of the Safety Planning Intervention to help suicidal individuals manage suicidal crises. Data on suicidal behavior and treatment engagement outcomes will be presented from the SAFE VET demonstration project. In addition, qualitative data describing Veterans' and staff experiences (e.g. what is most/least helpful) with using the intervention will be described. Finally, we will discuss the ways in which SPI has been adapted or incorporated into other interventions. Intended Audience: Behavioral health staff, Emergency department staff, and Researchers and Clinicians interested in safety planning interventions.
