Description: What can health care facilities do to improve their clinicians’ care quality? Tracking the relationship between facility-level organizational structures and physician-level quality of care is difficult in part because of limitations in data and in quality measures as well as cross-sectional study designs vulnerable to bias. We re-assess this relationship in the VA using a new measure of diabetes care quality and an innovative, longitudinal study design. Target audience: This presentation may be of interest to those interested in research about primary care or diabetes care quality, how unit and facility-level inputs can improve quality, and methods for identifying facility-level effects. This audience may include researchers and leaders in primary care or quality improvement, both within the VA and without.
