Description: This Cyberseminar is the third of a five-part series presenting the results from the Women's Health Initiative. This Cyberseminar will address the following: 1) Comorbid chronic conditions and physical function in women with diabetes: Does Veteran status matter when comparing older women with diabetes and chronic conditions that impact physical functioning? 2) Fracture rates and bone density among postmenopausal women from the WHI: Is osteoporosis a greater concern in women Veterans versus non-Veterans? 3) Association of Pain with Functional Outcomes, Fatigue, and Sleep Quality among Veterans and non-Veterans: Do prevalence and longitudinal effects of pain differ between Veteran and non-Veteran women? 4) Differences in Active and Passive Smoking Exposures and Lung Cancer Incidence between Veterans and non-Veterans in the Women’s Health Initiative: Do women Veterans have higher rates of both active and passive tobacco exposure than their civilian counterparts and therefore a higher risk for lung cancer? Intended audience: Researchers, clinicians, and others interested in the health of older women.
