Description: Massachusetts Health Reform, one of the models of the Affordable Care Act, introduced an individual health insurance mandate and new coverage options for eligible individuals. These components may influence whether Veterans choose to receive care from VA, or opt for non-VA alternatives. Understanding how health care reform changes reliance on VA health care is significant for future policy planning, particularly within the context of new VA Community Care initiatives. This presentation will present research on how comprehensive health reform affected Veterans’ use of outpatient specialty care and mental health services. Dr. Steven Pizer will join as a mentor discussant and be available during the Q&A. Intended audience: CDAs, health economists, administrators, HSR&D community and researchers interested in health policy.
