A Systematic Review of Outcomes Associated with Blast versus Nonblast-Related Traumatic Brain Injury

by Nancy Greer, PhD
Seminar date: 7/12/2017

Description: It is estimated that one-third to one-half of traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) among US military service members and Veterans are blast related. It is unknown whether injury outcomes and healthcare needs are different in those who experience blast-related TBI compared to those who experience TBI from other causes. We will present findings from a systematic review of injury outcomes (e.g., mental health, pain/headache, vision loss, hearing loss, neurocognitive function, quality of life) among US military personnel and Veterans (2001-2016) who have sustained blast-related versus nonblast TBI. Intended audience: Clinicians, researchers, and others interested in TBI.
